(Murphy’s Irish Pub)Murphy’s Irish Pub recently held its annual golf event, the 22nd-annualBottomfeeder’s Tournament. There was a great turnout of 120 players who enjoyed the greens at Sonoma Golf Club on a hot afternoon. A dinner and auction was held in the clubhouse after, where generous bidders raised their paddle in support of Sonoma Valley High School’s athletic department. Murphy’s manager Dermot Coll was the auctioneer on the night, with help from Shari Duscenne and committee members Tom Kelly and Frank Gaynor. Special mention to Jim McKenzie who led the fight for the auctioned lots and got two of the prizes. The $10,397 raised from the event was donated to the SVHS to help with the ongoing challenges associated with running the athletic department. Murphy’s leadership is already looking forward to next year’s event. SVHS Athletic Director Mike Boles said, “Sonoma Valley High School’s Athletic Department would like to sincerely thank Murphy’s Irish Pub and Restaurant, Sonoma Golf Club, the golf participants, and sponsors for the generous donation from their 22nd-annual Bottomfeeders Golf Tournament. In particular, we thank Dermot Coll, Tom Coll, Rich Hart, Shari Duscenne, Frank Gaynor and Tom Kelly. Words cannot adequately express how grateful we are. Our athletic department is fueled by donations and your donation has provided us with the opportunity to move forward without financial constraint. In these challenging times, your charitable actions have demonstrated your commitment to our Sonoma community. Our student-athletes are the ultimate beneficiary. We are deeply appreciative and grateful.”
